Honestly speaking, I really can't feel the spirit of Christmas. Judge me as Scrooge or something but that's exactly how I really feel. Anger, pain, heartaches, frustration, betrayal, everything! All piled up inside my heart. I can only remember Christmas when I'm seeing decors and hearing Christmas songs. I don't know how am I gonna get rid of these feelings but I'm still hoping that just before the clock strikes at 12 midnight on the 24th, I will be able to celebrate Christmas whole-heartedly. :'(

Ganoon ba talaga kalupit ang buhay???

Nalulungkot ako tuwing nakikita ko ang aking ama na  nagtatrabaho pa rin hanggang ngayon. Nalulungkot din ako tuwing nakikita ko ang aking ina ay hindi pa rin lubos na nakakapagpahinga sa mga gawain na dapat ay hindi na nya ginagawa sa mga panahon na ito. Nakakalungkot lang talagang isipin na nahihirapan pa rin sila hanggang ngayon. Sa kabila ng kanilang edad na dapat nagpapahinga na eh kumakayod pa rin para sa aming magkapatid. At ang pinaka nakakalungkot sa lahat ay ang katotohonang hindi ko pa rin sila matulungan sa kahit ako'y nakatapos na sa aking pag-aaral. 


Tila ganoon nalang ang ilap ng kaparalan sa akin. Gustuhin ko mang makapagtrabaho na at makatulong na, hindi ko pa rin magawa. Dahil sa tuwing naghahanap ako, lagi nalang kabiguan ang aking natatamo. Sa isang buong araw na paglilibot, ni isa wala man lang nagbigay ng pagkakataon. Higit isang taon na akong naghahanap. Ewan ko ba parang kusa nalang itong lumalayo sa akin. Kung susumahin ko ang lahat ng aking ginastos sa paghahanap, tiyak kong malaki-laki na iyon. Isama mo pa ang pagod at gutom na inaabot ko tuwing nasa labas ako. Tanging kendi na lamang ang aking pantawid gutom para lamang makatipid dahil hindi naman araw-araw ay kaya akong bigyan ng perang panustos sa paghahanap ng trabaho. Hirap kung hirap, literal at emosyonal. Ilang luha na rin ang aking naiyak tuwing nawawalan ako ng pag-asa.


Nakaksakit sa damdamin tuwing pinagtatalunan ang tungkol sa pera. Mga utang na kailangang bayaran, pambayad sa kung anu-anong bagay, gastusin sa araw-araw at marami pang iba.Isabay pa dyan ang paninisi sakin dahil sa mga bagay na aking nagawa sa nakaraan na hindi ko naman sinasadyang mangyari. Minsan gusto ko nalang na maglaho ng kusa upang wala na akong marinig na kahit na ano. Ngunit hindi pwede. Tao lang tayo at kailangan natin maranasan lahat nang iyon.

Kaya ang tanong ko, ganoon nalang ba kalupit ang buhay?

Shane on being a "thunderkatz"

I can still remember a few weeks ago, my brother asked me this; “Ate ano feeling ng nasa 20’s na?” I just laughed and said; “Ha? Ano feeling ng isang ‘THUNDERKATZ’?” From there we just laughed at it nalang. Well, I can’t deny the fact that few hours from now I’ll be turning 23 already (Gosh! Hahaha! So hard to drop that line!). I’m on my early adulthood, nearing late adulthood. In line with that I want to share this simple trivia about me. Maybe some of you learned about it already, some don’t so I’ll share it anyway.

23 things you should know about SHANE:

1. Tomorrow is my birthday. Born on October 19, 1986 under the star sign of Libra and my element is Air. (*Feng Shui ba ito?!) Born at ITRMC in San Fernando, La Union at exactly 5:30 am. A registered nurse but still no hospital experience yet. So, you know exactly what my birthday wish would be.

2. It’s pretty obvious that my name SHYNNE is very confusing. You don’t know exactly how you going to pronounce it. Is it SHINE or SHANE or whatever! Actually, it’s SHINE according to my Mom but they are calling me SHANE instead as nick. I was actually named after Maricel Soriano’s character in a movie. I can’t remember the title of the movie but I understand GMA7 made a remake of it with Yasmin Kurdi playing her previous role as Shane.

3. I LOVE PURPLE. You are not my friend if you don’t know about that. It started in high school. All of a sudden I became fascinated with it. And every time I see that color it really makes me smile. :)

4. My passion for chocolates is so immense! Dark chocolates really drive me crazy. Really love the bitter-sweet taste it brings.

5. "Smile though your heart is aching, Smile even though it's breaking, And you'll see that life is still worthwhile if you just smile..." of all the songs I listen to, that would probably my most favorite song of all. Every word is so meaningful.It says a lot about life and how from a simple gesture of smile can make a difference.

6. Kakanin-- i love eating those. Any kind, name it. My relative told me that I inherit that from my Lolo. Best merienda of all!

7. Actually, I'm not too picky of dishes I eat. In fact here's my favorite; ginisa na bagoong isda! so, so yummy! asked my aunt about it.

8. I'm a girl but i love watching basketball games. It started out because of my Dad and until now it goes on. Actually i really don't know the rules, but i just love watching it. May it be live or on television. I love to cheer for my bet team. I'm a fan of the Ateneo Blue Eagles, hahaha! And i dream of having a one on one game with my ultimate crush Chris Tiu :) Tatalunin ko sya!!! :)

9. You can catch me in deep sleep when my eyes are partly open. hahaha!

10. I have this bad habit that i can't eat without my slippers on but after I have eaten my meal, and unconsciously, i always just leave it under the table. Kinda weird diba?

11. I often daydream esp when i do have problems. Probably that's my defense mechanism. But because of that, I'm having "shunga moments".--nadulas ako sa hagdan not knowing nasa likod ko pala crush ko --nasa LRT ako, bababa talaga ako sa monumento pero bumaba pala ako sa 5th avenue --at marami pang iba.. :)

12. I usually sleep with 5 pillows around me. 3 big sizes and 2 regular sized-pillows.

13. *to become a tv host *to perform infront of a big crowd --that's only few of my wildest dreams haha!

14. Everytime my mom and i or my bro and i have conflicts and when i'm not talking to them they usually offer me a variety of foods. After a while, we're ok na, hahaha, in short food pleases me. Yun lang ang pang uto sakin.hahaha!

15. I admit, i'm too sentimental. I keep every little thing people are giving me. Swear kahit sobrang luma na!

16. I have: fear of heights, fear of water and fear of flying insects =/

17. An earing from my Lola. That's one of my priceless possession. Mom said I'm the only apo whom she gave that earing. I miss her. Last time na nagparamdam sya sakin was before my board exam. I dreamt that she's tapping me on my shoulder. Don't know exactly what she means but only two bug my mind. It's either, she's asking me to sleep comfortably in place (coz that evening nakatulog ako while reviewing) or she's giving me a moral support. No matter what it is, I'm thankful coz she guided me through her spirit and with that I became a registered nurse.

18. Aside from writing articles or journals, I'm writing poems too. It started when i was in gradw 6. My teacher then asked us to write a simple 6-stanza poem. After writing a successful one, I continued it until my fourth year H.S.. Don't know when will i be writing again. Sana gumana ang utak ko and my mood will favor it.

19. I love writing. Any kind. that's why i made this blog. before, hindi talaga ako marunong. Laging pinapaulit sakin ang article na ginawa ko. But that didn't put me down. In fact i used that para matuto ako and eventually naging part pa ako ng school paper nung HS. I was a Beat Editor then. :)

20. In line with that i have this favorite article of mine that i have as my last entry for the paper. It's entitled, "100 facts about guys". I'll publish it soon :) Well i don't personally wote it, i just compiled it. I got the info from a friend. And mind you, many guys, even my EIC reacted on it coz it's very true. I made buking th boys, hahaha!

21. This is the first time that I'm gonna say it; I am technically NBSB. Oooops hanggang dun na lang.hahaha!

Noong nakaraang linggo lang nakapagsulat ako tungkol sa mga nasalanta dahil sa bagyong Ondoy. Ginawa ko yun upang kahit papaano ay bigyan ng pag-asa ang mga taong naapektuhan nito. Hindi ko alam ang bagyong Pepeng pala ang babayo sa pamilya ko sa norte.

Oktubre 9,2009; ito na yata ang petsa na hindi ko makakalimutan sa buong buhay ko. 7:30 ng umaga ng araw na iyon tumawag kami sa tiyahin ko upang sabihin na hindi na namin itutuloy ang pag-uwi sa La Union upang dumalo sa kaarawan ng dalawang pinsan ko. Ngunit bago pa man magsalita ang Mama ko, umiiyak na daw ang tiyahin ko. Yun pala, naanod ng baha ang 31 alagang baboy ng pinsan ko na ginagamit nya bilang pangkabuhayan. Naalarma kami sa nangyari. Nagsimula na ako magtanong sa iba pang kaamg-anak ko tungkol sa nangyari. Bukod pala sa pinsan ko, nasalanta din ang iba ko pang kamag-anak na nasa iba pang barangay. Binaha din ang iba ko pang kamag-anak na malapit sa ilog. Tama ba naman kasi na magsanib pwersa ang ilog at sapa kaya hayun, nagmistulang dagat ang bahagi ng Naguilian Road na kung iisipin ay isang National Highway. Ang bahay naman ng lolo't lola ko sa isa pang barangay ay binaha din. Hanggang tuhod sa bakod, hangggang tuhod naman sa loob ng bahay. Kinakailangan nilang lumikas sa isang mataas na lugar iyon ay sa kabutihang palad ng kanilang katapat na bahay. Halos lahat ng kamg-anak ko binaha. Ang ipinag papasalamat ko na lamang ay hindi landslide ang tumama sa kanila.

Noong araw din na iyon humingi na ako ng tulong sa mga nakakataas at nakakaalam kung ano ang nararapat na gawin. Maraming tumugon sa panawagan ko. Salamat sa kanilang mabubuting loob at nagawang puntahan ang aming lugar at ihayag ang sitwasyon doon. Nabunutan ako ng tinik nang mapanood ko na sa telebisyon ang sitwasyon sa aking mahal na probinsya. Totoong kalunus-lunos ang naging kalagayan nila doon. Maputik na at tapos na ang landslide sa ibang lugar nang sila ay mapuntahan. Naiintindihan ko naman kung bakit walang nakaka-abot sa lugar namin sa kadahilanang hindi na madaanan ang Pangasinan dahil nagmistula na rin itong dagat. Magmula noon ay nagbigyang pansin na rin ang lugar na aking sinilangan.

Mahal ko ang La Union. Doon ako isinilang (sa San Fernando), taga doon din ang parehong magulang at naroon lahat ng pinakamamahal kong tao. Kaya ganoon na lamang ang pag-aalala ko noong araw na iyon. Sobrang naawa ako sa sinapit nito. Pero ganoon pa man, katulad nga ng lagi kong sinasabi, may pag-asa pa rin. Bangon lang. Agkararag tayo laeng ken Apo Diyos.

***** Guess I'm not too bad to dream. There's nothing wrong isn't? If ever I'll be successful, I'll share all my blessings to others because I know that material things are not that important,can't bring them to grave. It will be more meaningfull if i'm going to share it to everyone. So i'm hoping it will all come true but i know it will all depends on Him up there. :) Atleast i have a goal, not bad. God please help me make this wishlist come true. All glory will be Yours. :)

Devastated-a single word that could define the situation we are in right now. Metro Manila almost brushed out from the Philippine map because of Ondoy. People from different walks of life were all affected. Different stories of survival and heroism are heard. It's really heart-breaking to hear those sob stories. I admit, it really makes me cry hearing them again and again. But every person has their own way of coping with what had happened. some just laugh at them as a defense mechanism, others become apathetic because of trauma. But for me the most inappropriate attitude is to lose hope. Yes we can't blame them to do so but there is also we can do to keep their faith.

Hope is always there. You just have to believe and reach out for it. Never stop believing that everything's going to be fine in God's own time. Just keep the faith. I know it's easy for me to say these things because I'm not one of the victims. But mind you, I'm also in a situation right now where I was about to lose hope. It's the same thing but only in different package. But then, I realized, we are all lucky enough because we did not lose our own lives compare to those who did. We are still breathing and we are waking up everyday and seeing the sun shines that i know symbolizes a new day to live. Let's be all thankful for that!

I heard someone said, "Whatever is taken away from you, it will be given back to you, in two folds." Very true! God took away those things for a reason. We may never know his reason for now but someday, somehow it will be revealed. And i know when that days comes, we will all smile and say that, "God is so, so good! God will never give us problems we can't handle. He knows that we are strong enough to face these challenges. Remember that, "Worrying is a sin". Believe in the power of prayers and have faith in Him. Just follow Him and He will take the lead. Hope will come SOOn, very very SOON!

And I think the best definition of HOPE is this:

Aminin, karamihan sa atin eh sobrang namimis nang pumasok sa school. Oo pasok lang walang kasamang aral. Masaya kasi pumasok sa school kasi nandoon lahat ng, oo, mga kalokohan. Kaya inipon ko ang mga salitang ito na naging lengwahe namin noong college.

• Dorobo- pang-gagantso sa kapwa (lalo na sa pamasahe)

• Hipon- isang babaeng maganda ang katawan pero maari nang ipagsawalang bahala ang mukha
• Carni/ Carni Norti- complete package; maganda na, sexy pa... karaniwang maririnig mo syempre sa mga kalalakihan

• Critical hour- applicable sa mga may night duty; darating ang pakiramdam na hindi mo talagang kayang labanan (ang mahiwagang ANTOK)

Bye Tatay Emil.. we will miss you...

I was supposed to write something about hypokalemia before i got a news last Wednesday. Kuya Ayo called Mommy Tita saying that Tatay Emil passed away at exactly 4pm. The news came from Kuya Square. He said Tatay had his 4th heart attack that day and unfortunately, he wasn't able to surpass it. He already rest peacefully. Kuya Joel went here to fetch Tatay Emil ang Nanay Thelma and they are suppose to go to US on August 27, but sadly only Nanay Thelma will go with Kuya Joel.

I'm writing this because I once had fond memories with them. Coming from Davao, they were here last June 9 and stayed here in our house until the 24th same month. We got to spend a lot of time with them, esp me. I remember going with them to St.Luke's to have their check-up before going to US. I was also the one writing his application form that day, helping Kuya Square. That then I knew about Tatay's birthday. It will be also on the 20th of that month. He spent his birthday with us, not knowing that will be his last. My family is thankful because atleast we got to spend time with him, even for just a short period of time. Their family has been very good to us. No words to express my gratitude to them.

To Tatay Emil,
Tatay we will miss you here. You're now up to our Heavenly Father. You can now rest completely. Help your family to get through this esp Nanay, Ate Alma and Kuya Square. Thank you for the memories you had with us during your stay here. We will never forget you. Goodbye, we will miss you.

June '09 NLE passers oathtaking

Yesterday and today the newly passed RN's had their oath taking ceremony at SMX Convention Center at MOA. I'm just having flashbacks about it because its been a year since i took mine. The atmosphere was gloomy then because of a typhoon. I don't want to remember its name because it upsets me a lot.Grrr! Imagine I'm all dress-up with my white gala uniform and a white high-heeled shoes and the rain is pouring really hard??? Hahaha..So how's that? :)
Looking back, I'm with my mom that day(as usual) because my dad,AGAIN, can't come. Since I started my life as a nurse, he wasn't able to witness the progress I've been through. From my Capping Ceremony down to my Oath Taking. He even didn't saw me wear my duty uniform! :) When you try to look at my pictures during those ceremonies, you will only see me and my mom or sometimes with my brother. Papa missed those happenings which are very important to me.Gosh I'm getting emotional already!!! :) But even though he is physically not there, he always gives me the support I need. Yeah of course financially but more importantly on the emotional side. He does not fail to always explain everything to us and that's the thing I really admire about him. Of course, I don't have to feel very sorry about his absence because as what I've said my mom is always there beside me. I guess I'm going to write soon about my gratis to them! :)
Anyways, going back, having that ceremony was one of the biggest highlights of my life. As what Mr. Marco Antonio Sto. Thomas, one of the members of the Board of Nursing, said then, It is our "Sacrament of Matrimony" as a nurse. "There is no turning back!", he said. He also said that our Capping ceremony is our "baptism" in nursing, Pinning ceremony is our "confirmation" and lastly oath taking is the "marriage".Yeah I'm listening to him eventhough I was busy taking pictures of my colleagues. :) All was very dress up gorgeously that day, particularly the members of BON, of course, who made our lives a living hell for two days! hahaha :) Everybody was very proud of themselves. You're considered a survivor that day. Also to mention the proud parents. The oath itself only took a few minutes but it was a life-changing moment, confirming of our title REGISTERED NURSE!
To all my new colleagues, Congratulations and welcome to the world of UNEMPLOYED, I mean REGISTERED NURSES! hahaha :)

I'm here...finally

Yes this is a dream come true for me. I finally created a blog site where I can share my thoughts and express my feelings about anything and everything. Only few people know that i really love to write. Actually one of my frustrations in life is to be a journalist, but i ended up in the healthcare industry. But i don't have regrets about it because now I can put those two industries in one. This is the start of my "blogging career". :)
